To cut a long story short, an energy audit with thermal imaging will save you money… and in many cases, BIG money. The main benefit is that it’s a fast way to see potential areas of leaks and heat loss behind walls that your standard home inspector simply will not see.
The problem with most energy audits is that they focus on electrical energy saving ideas such as installing compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL's) and replacing older appliances. We all know that newer appliances are much more efficient than our 10 or 20 year old existing appliances, and that compact fluorescent lights use much less energy than traditional incandescent light bulbs. Our clients don't need to pay for this information. You want to know where heat is escaping, why you can't cool an area of your home or building, or why your fuel bills are so outrageous. Our energy audits will do precisely that and more. Our energy survey can show clients exactly where air infiltration is occurring, where insulation may have settled or been left out by the builder, and more.
Typically this service is only considered by area residents during the heating season when fuel bills appear to literally go through the roof. The fact is heat or energy loss occurs throughout the cooling season as well. The same factors affecting your fuel bills are affecting your electric (for the A/C) during the summer months. Our inspections work just as well during the summer as they do in the winter and provide the same level of service to help you cut your energy and fuel bills!
Our service helps you identify areas of concern and where to focus your repair efforts to achieve the "best bang for the buck". Many of our clients have cut their heating costs by 20% or more and achieved more comfortable rooms, homes, and buildings by following our recommended advice.
Prior to Thermal Imaging, detection of problem areas required having to tear out drywall or use some other invasive method. These methods frequently were not successful in initially locating the source of the problem, resulting in unnecessary additional damage, wasted time, and costly repairs.
In addition, water leaks were not detected until staining was noticed on the drywall ceiling or interior walls. Often times the leak could go on for years allowing a cool damp place for mold and bacteria to grow. Wiring problems went undetected until the wiring actually shorted out, tripping the breaker or melting the insulation. Areas of missing insulation in walls and low insulation in attics went unnoticed. Leaking ductwork, involving higher energy costs, were difficult to detect.
Now, with Thermal Imaging, these potential hazards can be detected BEFORE they become a problem, saving costs, headaches, and possibly lives.
